Labiaplasty

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty or labial reduction is an operation to reduce the prominence of the labia minora. It is a functional operation performed to improve symptoms of pain and inflammation.

The operation is usually performed under general anaesthetic (you are asleep) and is a daycase. There are several ways to perform the reduction, this depends on the nature of your problem. Most often the scar is at the edge of the labia and settles very well.

Simple pad dressings are applied, you can continue to wear these inside your pants just as a sanitary towel. Dressings are usually not needed after a couple of days. You should avoid strenuous activity or exercise for a few weeks until entirely comfortable.

Penetration should be avoided for at least a month. You will return after a week for the wound to be inspected and can return to work probably within a week.

Labiaplasty is a safe and successful procedure with high patient satisfaction. However, all surgical procedures come with a degree of risk and it is important that you thoroughly research the procedure before committing to the operation.
