VASERLipo

What is VASERLipo?

VASERLipo is an advanced form of liposuction that is only available at Adnova Clinic in this region. It involves ultrasound treatment to the fat prior to liposuction to remove the fat. It has the possibility sometimes to deliver ‘high definition’ sculpting.

The operation is performed under General Anaesthesia and involves small cuts in and around the area to be treated, large volumes of fluid are injected under the skin and ultrasound is delivered to the fat prior to liposuction to remove it. The wounds are closed with dissolving sutures and a compression garment is placed. Very occasionally drains might be used.

You wear a compression garment constantly for a period of between 2-6 weeks depending on the area to be treated and the surgeon treating you. You will be seen at a week post-operatively for the dressings to be reviewed and lymphatic drainage massage will commence. You will be offered twice weekly sessions of massage for the first four weeks. You will see your surgeon at three months post-operatively by which time the swelling will have settled and a final result will be assessed.

The wounds are very small and are usually settled within a few weeks. The swelling of surgery can last for a few weeks and the area treated may be bruised and tender for 7-10 days, Arnica can help with this as well as routine simple painkillers. Most patients are able to drive after only a few days and return to light work at a week. Showering from 1 week, bathing from 2 weeks.

VASERLipo is a safe procedure performed as a day-case under General Anaesthesia.
